Hi Ladies,
Today marks one week after setting our clocks back for daylight savings time. Although daylight savings time is celebrated because of the idea of gaining an hour, if you are not intentional, you may find yourself feeling like you have less time in your day. During the fall season, the days can seem short and the nights long. Many women who are wives, mothers, entrepreneurs, students, employees, and all the above can feel exhausted as the sun goes down at 5:00 pm and find themselves with no energy to complete the tasks that still linger for the day. Today I want to encourage you to “Reclaim Your Time” and find a way to use your morning to stay on track with your wellness goals.
Early morning routines are a great way to “reclaim your time” and kick-start your wellness journey. It can be hard to become a “morning person” and it does not happen by chance. Using the hour that you “gain” during the fall season can be the key to creating or maintaining your wellness routine during this time. Below you will discover five ways you can use your mornings to reach your wellness goals.
Morning Affirmations: Affirmations are a great tool to boost your confidence and manifest your wellness goals. Determine what areas of your life you lack confidence in or need improvement. Allow your morning affirmations to fuel you throughout the day. Write down five affirmations; look yourself in the mirror every morning; and repeat them twice every morning. Say it, believe it, and live in your affirmations.
Meditation: For many women, early mornings may be the only quiet time they experience all day. Early morning meditations can allow you the opportunity to connect with yourself and focus on the needs of your mind, body, and soul. Mediation can help establish a feeling of peace and calm from within. Meditation can be in silence or with calming music. You can lie flat or meditate in a sitting position. Determine the setting and the time you want to allow for meditation. You make the rules; find out what style of meditation works best for you.
Exercise: Exercising in the morning can help you burn calories and encourage you to make healthier food choices during the day. There is no specific type of exercise that is required, just find a way to move your body. Consider an early morning walk or bike ride, yoga, or strength training exercises. The beauty of creating your own wellness routine is that you get to decide what works best for you. Keep it simple and make adjustments to your exercise routine as needed.
Get a Head Start on your Day: Mornings can be very chaotic. Some women may benefit from starting their morning routine thirty minutes to an hour early every day. Getting a jump-start can be a great way to decrease anxiety throughout the day. Are you someone who would benefit from waking up before the kids or getting to work a few minutes early to gather yourself before the day begins? If you find yourself always rushing or running late in the mornings, take this time to wake up a few minutes early to take control of your day.
Sleep: Recommending sleep may seem very contradicting. The last four recommendations were centered around waking up early and using your hour to get a head start on your day and a jump-start on your wellness routine. But I understand that we all are in different stages in our lives and that some women would benefit from using the extra hour to sleep. Adequate sleep plays a vital role in your health and wellness journey. The extra hour of sleep may be what you need to help you focus throughout the day and for your body to recover. For some, rest will be the key to reaching their wellness goals during this season. Take this time to rest and be unapologetic about your need for more sleep and restoration.
I have provided a few ways to “reclaim your time” during this season, but only you can determine what you need. Use this time wisely to reach your wellness goals. Know that you don't have to wait until the New Year to establish your wellness routine or to set new wellness goals. I encourage you to determine what wellness looks like for you this season; be intentional with your time; and Make wellness your best accessory.

Lauren
