Congrats sis, we made it. Take a moment and think about all that we have experienced this year. Think about how we adapted and thrived during such an erratic time. We literally had to live day to day not knowing what would be thrown our way next. Through it all, here we stand.
As I reflect on this year, I have so many emotions. I reflect on moments of anxiety hoping that as I kiss my daughters at bedtime, that I wouldn’t transmit a virus that is mentioned in every work email, news station, and social media platform every second of the day. I reflect on moments of regret that I never appreciated the importance of touch and breathing fresh air was without fear. I reflect on feelings of joy that my husband is thriving in his career. I reflect on feelings of accomplishment that I started my blog to connect with women all over the world. I reflect on moments of sadness for loved ones that are no longer here. I reflect on moments of joy watching my girls grow up.
As I reflect on all of these thoughts and emotions, gratitude is what I choose to focus on. I want to share some of the experiences and moments that I am grateful for:
1. Family: I am so thankful for my family. They see me at my best and my worst and yet they still love and support me. I couldn’t imagine life without them.
2. Motherhood: Finding your rhythm in motherhood can be challenging. Some days I have to pinch myself because I can’t believe I’m their mom. Some days “Adulting” can be hard, but when you have someone looking up to you, failure is not an option. I am grateful for my girls always reminding me that I have to be a good example. I am determined to show them that with hard work and discipline, they can make their dreams come true.
3. Starting a Blog: Starting my blog is just the beginning of living out my purpose to help my community and others achieve better physical and mental health outcomes.
4. Planting a Garden: I have dreamed about starting a garden for many years, but never took the initiative to make it happen. . But this year, I removed excuses and started our family garden. Our garden reminded me of so many life lessons. It reminded me of the importance of planting with expectation and preparing for the harvest. If you plant the seed and do the work, it will grow.
5. Committing to a Wellness Journey: My wellness journey has not been perfect, but I never give up. As my life changes, I sometimes get off track, but I find my way.
6. My Circle of Sister-Friends: My friends encourage me; they challenge me; and they hold me accountable. I am grateful for their presence in my life.
7. My Faith: My faith keeps me. It is consistent and never fails.
What are you grateful for? Do you set your goals for the New Year before or after reflecting on moments of gratitude? As we move forward into a new year and we set our short and long-term goals, I encourage you to allow your feelings of gratitude to serve as a catalyst for moving forward with intention. Focus on the areas of life that bring you joy and fulfillment. Choose to be happy now not later. Choose to surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you. Be intentional with your time and energy. Know that you are enough and you have everything you need to be happy at this moment to help you accomplish your goals.
Remind yourself that you have already done the impossible. Bet on yourself. Choose you, choose wellness, and look good doing it. Always, Make Wellness Your Best Accessory.
Your Sister in Wellness,
Lauren
