What Do You Want To Be When You “Grow Up?”

As many of you know, I have two beautiful daughters. Recently, my youngest daughter began asking one question every night before she goes to sleep. She looks up from her pillow with her big, beautiful eyes and she asks, “Mommy what do you want to be when you grow up”? She asks this question, and it feels like God speaks through her and gently gives me permission to dream again.
What seems like such a simple question for her, and many other children was a multi-layered question for me. It wasn’t as simple as what profession I should choose, or if I would choose to be a mom or a wife; the question made me think deeper about what truly matters and what type of woman I truly wanted to be.
As women, we are brought up to believe our worth is found in our profession, motherhood, or in marriage. But in hearing this question at 36 (after accomplishing so many things), all I could hear when asked this question is, Lauren (insert your name) what truly matters to you?
So today I want to stop and ask you what do you want to be when you grow up? What will you choose today? After all of your life experiences and realizing life is more than a title; more than a profession; more than motherhood; more than being someone’s wife - What will you choose going forward?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Some women may still choose motherhood; their profession; or being a wife at the top of their list as to what defines them, and this is perfectly ok. However, I will challenge you to take a moment to make the decision that the woman you decide to be moving forward, will exude wellness from the inside out.
Below, I have listed categories of questions to ask yourself that may serve as a guide on your journey to discovering what characteristics will describe you as a woman of wellness.
